Pretty in Ink started in 2007 with a simple concept, “a branding of a design that was easily obtainable.”
The phrase pretty in ink was catchy for a child of the 80s. Screen printing the logo on to textiles that are soft, simple and complimentary became an interest that lead to the creation of Pretty in Ink.
Almost a year later in 2008 the interest for cosmetic tattooing was reignited and harnessed. When Mandi obtained her credentials for micropigmentation, little did she realize at the time, she had the branding for her new venture already created into existence.
Pretty in Ink has had quite an adventure in its 10 short years. She’s moved state lines in 2011 and rebuilt herself from the ground up. First established in a tattoo studio, then a hair salon, medical spa and has now settled in 2018, for now, in a beautiful loft in the Discovery District of downtown Columbus, Ohio.
“This humbling journey has been one of self-discovery and has changed my life forever. I’ve helped hundreds of clients feel confident — from a simple beauty mark to full services for alopecia patients and cancer survivors.”
In 2008, Mandi pursued formal training for cosmetic tattoo applications from The Beau Institute in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. She learned the fine technique of micropigmentation, layering of pigment in conjunction with the skin’s natural tonality and geometry of the face in relation to the eyebrows. She has also studied with world renowned masters such as Mensura Megy Hodzic, Selen Shenalp and Ella Sakalauskiene.
When 2011 opened its doors, Mandi relocated Pretty in Ink to Columbus, Ohio. Columbus has proved to be a fun and alternative city to cater to diverse clientele.
Mandi also has a passion for photography and screen printing. More about her can be found on her artist site at herfinest.com.
