Fanci Mandi

Hello, FanciMandi here. Once I graduated with my Bachelors of Fine Art in 2004, I had no idea where my art degree would lead me. After years of being a photographer, I decided in 2008 to pursue formal training for permanent cosmetic applications from The Beau Institute in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Here, I learned the physical technique of micropigmentation, layering of pigment in conjunction with the skin’s natural tonality and geometry of the face in relation to the eyebrows. When 2011 opened its doors, my path led me to discover Columbus, Ohio. Columbus has proved to be a fun and alternative city for me to cater to my diverse clientele. I’m currently seeing clients at our loft in the Downtown District of Columbus at 122 E. Main St. The loft is located above Sidebar restaurant on the 4th floor. In my 15 years, I have helped hundreds of clients, from a simple beauty mark to full services for alopecia patients and cancer survivors, feel confident. This humbling journey has been one of self-discovery and has changed my life forever.

If you’d like to start your journey within the cosmetic tattoo industry click here to get to my training site. I have trainings lined up once a month. Take a look around and scroll to the bottom of the front page. This will get you started on the application. Once you submit that, there will be another follow up email to allow me to get to know your goals a bit better. Once I get that back, we can hop on a phone call.

As a Photographer

I began to explore a passion for photography in high school. I obtained my BFA in 2004 from Ringling College of Art + Design in Sarasota, Florida. It was one of the most rewarding times in my life. I gained knowledge of traditional and nontraditional chemical processes, studio lighting and on-location shooting. This led to finding my niche in improvisational photography: creating highly stylized images in alternative locations. In some cases, I went so far as to build unique installations for my work or for my exhibitions. In 2004, I was honored with the Presidential Award for Polaroid lifts on clear acrylic. Pure passion motivates me to shoot. With the over saturation of the photography industry, I realized early in my craft that I only wanted to shoot to create what I wanted. I’m pretty set in my ways when it comes to what I’ll shoot. Today, I continue to elaborate on my creative and technical abilities as a conceptual photographer/retoucher. Stylized imagery smothered with collaboration is my strong suit. It’s my first love and my most coveted. Photography is ‘my precious’.

As a Screen Printer

Being a tactile medium, screen printing clothing became an interest and a venture that led to the creation of Pretty in Ink LLC. Pretty in Ink started, in 2009, with a simple concept, “a branding of a design that is easily obtainable.” Pretty in Ink adornments are created because every single one of us should feel pretty and confident about the way we look. Pii uses textiles that are soft, simple and complimentary. I am always accenting only the most flattering and comfortable clothing. With unisex sizes available, Pii adornments are created only in unique, limited runs. All adornments are individually hand printed, by my own little hands, in short runs to embrace elite and limited editions. Pretty in Ink adornments are purchasable through StoreNVY & Etsy.

I currently reside in downtown Columbus, Ohio. This artistic playground beckons the aforementioned trades to find homeostasis in synchronicity and gives me the opportunity to be methodically tactile in a creation as opposed to the more prominent digital applications of today.

I learned that I thrive best while working as a team in effort to create the perfect narrative. I invite you to join me and be a part of this narrative. I invite you to come be Pretty in Ink.
